Draw out Eggplant bitterness

Whiten Rice
During boiling process, add a few drops of lemon juice. This will whiten the rice.
To remove strong odour on hands after cooking with onions or garlic
Wet hands and sprinkle with baking soda. Rub into hands and rinse.
Keep flour fresh
Flour will remain fresh and last longer if placed into a sealed container in the refrigerator.
Storing Potatoes
Store in a dark, cool area. Place a fresh apple amongst potatoes once a week to prevent budding.
Food Staines
To avoid staining plastic containers with tomato based foods, try spraying container with a non stick cooking spray first.
Wine Corks
If wine cork expands, soak cork in boiling water for several minutes and the cork will easily fit back into bottle.
Removing skin from Almonds
To remove skin easily from almonds, soak in hot water for 20 minutes.
Keep Celery fresh
Keep celery fresh and crisp for a longer period of time by wrapping in aluminium foil. Refrigerate.
Cockroaches!!
Scatter boric powder in kitchen corners – cockroaches will disappear!!
Peeling Garlic Cloves
Garlic cloves are easier to peel if placed in warm water beforehand.
Always flour Dough
Always flour rolling pin or place in freezer for a few minutes to prevent dough from sticking to it.

Once boiled, drain hot water and add cold water. This will separate noodles.
Store uncooked popcorn in freezer.

Always store onions and potatoes separately otherwise potatoes will rot quickly.
Cleaning Mirrors
For sparkling clean mirrors, wipe with boiled potato skins.
White Cauliflower
Add 1/4 lemon to water when boiling cauliflower, as this will prevent cauliflower from going grey and will maintain it’s white appearance.
Fluffy Potato
Add 1 tsp baking powder per kg of potato to make mashed potato white and fluffy.
How to peel Garlic Cloves
Microwave for 10 seconds and they will pop out of their skin.
Storing Carrots & Apples
Always store carrots and apples separately, otherwise carrots will become bitter.
Bugs!!
To prevent bugs from crawling into your pantry and nesting in your flour, place a few bay leaves inside flour container.

Place grapes in freezer. They are delicious frozen.
